Over 20 years insight & experience in art & design

Laura is an experienced Sydney based art consultant, arts educator, arts writer and specialist art archivist, having worked in the art industry for over 20 years.

In addition to being the founder and director of LB Consulting, Laura also works with Guest Work Agency based in Melbourne as well as Arts Matter and Articulate based in Sydney.

Previously Laura has held roles with Guest Club Art, the Sherman Centre for Culture and Ideas (SCCI), Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation (SCAF) the Australian Design Centre and as a secondary school teacher at Abbotsleigh and Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College.

Having contributed to over 45 projects, exhibitions, public art commissions and publications featuring leading Australian, Asian, European and Middle Eastern contemporary artists, Laura has significant experience in the arts sector.

She also works closely with the fashion, design, applied arts and architecture industries, particularly in research and archival work for printed and online publications and creative projects.

As an arts writer, Laura has worked on multiple assignments including exhibition publications, artist monographs and autobiographies. She has substantial editorial experience in proof reading, structural and line editing.

Since establishing LB Consulting in 2019, one of her key focal points is fostering the practice of emerging artists and designers. She continues to work on a range of collaborative projects with Australian brands and artists, producing products, events and installations, which highlight the intersection of art and design.

A core aspect of Laura’s art consultancy is her deft relationship management of artists, the private sector, state council and cultural organisations - skills honed over many years establishing the Sherman Archives and Collections with key organisations including the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW), the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), the State Library of NSW (SLNSW) and the studios and estates of many contemporary artists and designers.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Art Education, teaching accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and is a Recognised Professional with the Australian Society of Archivists (ASARP).

Additionally, Laura has served on the selection committee for The Other Art Fair, Sydney, as a Panel Member for the NSW Premiers Contemporary Art Teacher Scholarship and participates in interviews and panel discussions, which amplify the significance of art in our contemporary landscape.
